What could be cooler for a toddler than riding in an airplane, a boat, a subway train, and a trolley all in one weekend?! Our two flights leading us to Boston were mercifully condensed into one. From Logan Airport we took a shuttle bus to the ferry station. We learned the hard way that the station had no bathroom and had to plastic bag a set of 2T underwear and pants. The relaxing, soothing ferry ride was roughly one hour to Quincy where sister Cathy picked us up. The boys are quite certain their Boston cousins live on an island as we had to take a boat to get to their house.
The next day we rode into Boston with Cathy and Ed and traveled back to their neighborhood by subway train (T) and trolley.
Although we were fortunate to get a ride back to the airport our first flight was too late by about 5 minutes for us to catch our connection. An extra 4 hours in JFK was not ideal - but we're grateful for entertaining stores (where the boys still don't realize people purchase and take items home), a DVD of Peter Pan, and fruit smoothies. Tobias even napped across my lap on the airplane, a beautiful, peaceful session we haven't had since he nursed. The boys traveled on the planes like children anticipating Santa (although we swear we never use that!).
Elijah cried this morning when it dawned on him he wouldn't spend the day chasing and being chased by his cousins. "When will we see them again?" as crocodile tears formed in the corners of his eyes.
So many more Thanksgiving photos and stories to post...
