A little funk clouded my head yesterday. No logical reason to feel blue. We have our health, family, friends, employment, and its Christmas for petes sake. Nevertheless, it was there. There's a small list of no-fail cures - have meaningful conversation w/loved ones, exercise in the fresh air, purge unused items and find them new homes, create something new (especially when giving new purpose to old items), help someone else. (Notice shopping doesn't work for me.) After some wonderful purging yesterday I finally pulled out my hand-me-down sewing machine. A friend of a friend GAVE (awesome, I know) me his old machine (promised to pay it forward). Old is dead-on, about 86 years old. But it runs smooth and even and does just what I need - forwards and backwards! Plus the boys like to watch the parts move, its not enclosed in white plastic. So I found some scrap denim and felt to make the boys a little tote to carry a new set of books and a computerized pen that reads them the book. The brand is leap frog, so we decided on a frog for the front. Doesn't replace mom or dad reading, but it was sure great for the ride home from Pennsylvania!
Started today w/a nursing question call from a mom (helping others). Spent 2 hours exercising in the fresh air by shoveling melting snow from our driveway in t-shirts! (The boys mostly shoveled back into the driveway and played "hockey" on the ice.) Then I was delighted to talk to my dear friend Sue about her new baby daughter - Emma Bea. And wrapped up the day with 4:30 mass and a great take out pizza meal with our good friends Terry and Rebecca.
And Greg is still off until the 5th! Remembering now I'm pretty blessed.
